As I was pulling out all of my Christmas totes, boxes and bags this year, I was thinking about how I could simplify the time and effort needed to put up my holiday decorations.
My first thought was to do something completely different for my Christmas Tree.
So….rather than dragging out my big artificial tree, I went out to our storage area and looked at the ladders that we have. I really wanted to use a tall ladder, but the legs were orange … so that one was out! We have this shorter step ladder that had yellow legs that had faded a lot, and looked weathered, so it was perfect! I washed it off and brought in.
I started with artificial garland wrapped with white lights and began weaving that around the legs and steps. I had a few large silver leaf tree pics that I also wrapped on the sides of the legs. I grabbed a few of my Christmas napkins to cover the top of the ladder, which was black, and also added them to 2 steps for a splash of color. I only had to pull out about a dozen snowflake ornaments from my storage tote.
What I especially love about this ladder tree is that, in addition to hanging ornaments on it, you can display other items upon the steps. I added candles, figurines, and even a framed picture. I placed a small lit tree on the top as my “tree” topper.
I have a cute Christmas puzzle that my parents gave to me in 1969 that I put out every year. It has a prominent place on my Christmas ladder. I absolutely love the flickering light and aroma of candles burning on my tree!
If you’re thinking about being creative with your Christmas tree – I would recommend that you try this! It was quick, easy and fun to do! It’s a great way to showcase some of your most treasured decorations in a different way.
Happy Holidays!
