I finally set aside a Saturday afternoon to clean out my craft closet, and it made me realize how many “fantasy-self” items I had stored away.
If you’re not familiar with the term, “fantasy self,” let me tell you what I mean.
My Fantasy Self would be sewing clothes for my granddaughter every few weeks, creating Christmas ornaments and wreaths out of shells, baking homemade bread every Saturday, crocheting an afghan as I relax in the recliner in the evening, making hand-crafted birthday cards for all my friends and family – AND getting them in the mail on time…. I think you get the idea.
The Real-World Me cannot even come close to doing half of these things!
The idea that I could do all these things… is really just a fantasy.
As I was clearing out this closet, I ran across some of these fantasy-self items and had to make decisions on what to keep and what to let go.
In the video, I talk about the tough questions you can ask yourself to determine if you really need to hang on to items that you have not touched in years. You may have unfinished projects that are “nagging at you” to complete. But will you really ever have time to complete them? Maybe you don’t even enjoy that hobby any longer.
Many times, if we are brutally honest with ourselves, we discover that it really does not make sense to hold to these things.
If you can relate to this – I hope you’ll watch the video and comment about the type of fantasy items you tend to hold on to for years and years. I really would love to read your comments!
